AI DISCLOSURE & INFORMED USE NOTICE
Proximity Coaching Platform — All AI Coaches
Effective Date: April 30, 2026 | Last Updated: April 30, 2026
You are interacting with an artificial intelligence system, not a human being. The AI Coaches on the Proximity Coaching platform are educational and personal development tools — not therapy, counseling, medical care, or crisis services. No human reviews or approves individual responses in real time. In an emergency, call 911.
1. What Is Proximity Coaching?
Proximity Coaching is a platform offering three AI-powered coaching companions, each designed to support a specific audience in building greater self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and communication skills.
2. You Are Interacting With Artificial Intelligence
Each AI Coach on the Proximity Coaching platform is powered by Claude, a large language model developed by Anthropic PBC. You are interacting with software, not a human coach, therapist, psychologist, or counselor. No human being reviews, edits, or approves the AI's responses before they are delivered to you.
The AI Coach generates responses by processing your message together with:
- Proprietary system instructions and coaching frameworks developed by Dr. John Schinnerer, Ph.D. and/or Joree Rose, MA, LMFT;
- A curated knowledge base drawn from books, courses, podcast transcripts, and coaching materials;
- Safety logic and content filters designed to prevent harmful outputs; and
- Your current session context (messages within the active session).
The AI Coach does not have memory of prior sessions unless you restate that information within a new session.
3. What the AI Coaches Are — And Are Not
3.1 What They Are
- Educational tools for personal development, self-reflection, and communication skill building;
- AI-powered coaching companions grounded in evidence-based frameworks (CBT, IFS, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, positive psychology, mindfulness);
- Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for ongoing personal development support; and
- Structured to help you explore patterns, build self-awareness, and develop actionable next steps.
3.2 What They Are Not
- Not therapy or counseling. The AI Coaches do not provide psychotherapy, clinical counseling, mental health treatment, or any service that requires a state-issued healthcare license;
- Not medical care. The AI Coaches do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, prescriptions, or clinical assessment of any kind;
- Not crisis services. The AI Coaches cannot provide crisis intervention, emergency assistance, or real-time safety monitoring;
- Not a substitute for a licensed professional. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, considering harming yourself or others, managing a serious mental illness, or in a situation requiring clinical care, you must seek help from a qualified human professional; and
- Not continuously monitored. No human monitors your conversations in real time.
4. About the Creators
4.1 Dr. John Schinnerer, Ph.D. (Proxi He & Proxi We)
Dr. John Schinnerer holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from UC Berkeley. He operates as an educational and performance coach. Dr. Schinnerer does not hold a clinical license as a psychologist, therapist, counselor, or healthcare provider, and does not provide licensed clinical care through any AI Coach. His frameworks and content are used in Proxi He and Proxi We for educational coaching purposes only.
4.2 Joree Rose, MA, LMFT (Proxi She & Proxi We)
Joree Rose holds a Master's degree and a California Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license. She operates as a mindfulness teacher and life coach through the Proximity Coaching platform. Joree Rose does not provide licensed therapy, counseling, diagnosis, or clinical treatment through any AI Coach. Her frameworks and content are used in Proxi She and Proxi We for educational coaching purposes only. Her LMFT license does not create a therapist-client relationship between you and Joree Rose through the use of any AI Coach.
5. AI Limitations — What You Need to Know
AI-generated responses can and do contain errors. Before relying on any information provided by an AI Coach, you should understand the following:
- Hallucinations: AI models can generate responses that are factually incorrect, including fabricated citations, invented statistics, or inaccurate summaries of research;
- No knowledge of your full situation: The AI Coach only knows what you share within the current session. It cannot account for your full personal history, health, medical records, family background, legal situation, or other context it has not been told;
- Not personalized clinical advice: AI-generated coaching suggestions are general in nature and may not be appropriate for your specific circumstances;
- Potential for inappropriate responses: Despite safety filters, the AI Coach may occasionally produce responses that are incomplete, irrelevant, or not suited to your situation; and
- No continuity across sessions: The AI Coach does not remember previous conversations. Each session starts fresh.
Always use your own judgment. For important decisions involving your health, mental health, relationships, finances, employment, or legal matters, consult a qualified professional.
6. Safety Protocols and Crisis Response
The AI Coaches are equipped with automated safety protocols designed to recognize certain crisis-related language, including statements that may suggest suicidal ideation or self-harm intent. When these protocols are triggered, an AI Coach will:
- Stop the current coaching conversation;
- Acknowledge what you shared in a non-judgmental way;
- Clearly state the limits of the AI Coach as a non-clinical, non-crisis tool; and
- Provide relevant crisis resources.
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (US)
- Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741
- National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233
- SAMHSA National Helpline: 1-800-662-4357
- Emergency Services: Call 911
These safety protocols are automated and imperfect. The AI Coach will not always recognize or appropriately respond to every crisis situation. Do not rely on any AI Coach to detect an emergency or keep you safe. If you or someone you know is in danger, call 911 immediately.
7. Compliance Disclosures
7.1 California AB 489 — AI Disclosure
California Assembly Bill 489 requires that any person operating an AI system that engages in real-time text communication must disclose that the system is not a human being before or at the start of each interaction. This disclosure is made prominently within the AI Coach interface at the beginning of every session, and is also provided in this document and in the Terms of Service.

- A prominent, persistent disclosure that the AI Coach is not a human being;
- Crisis safety protocols with automatic referral to emergency resources;
- Safety event logging (event occurrence and timestamp, retained minimum 3 years);
- An annual anonymized report of crisis safety protocol activations, beginning July 1, 2027; and

The Company does not attribute legal liability for AI outputs to Anthropic or any third-party AI provider, and does not represent that the AI Coaches are autonomous legal persons.
